Social Security
At Howard O. Bernstein, P.C. we pride ourselves on giving our clients individualized attention to their case. Every case is important to us and we advocate for our clients using our years of experience, long standing respectful and professional communication with the Social Security Administration (SSA) staff and managers, and having built a reputation for excellent legal representation in front of the Administrative Law Judges in the field of Social Security Disability Law.
When you decide to apply for Social Security Disability (SSD), it can be a very hard decision to make. Then, even after you decide, getting through the process can be confusing and difficult. There is a lot of paperwork that must be filled out, completed correctly, and then submitted to SSA. Our staff is trained thoroughly to make sure that you submit the proper paperwork and medical evidence in which SSA will need to make an informed decision on your case. Because of the lengthy disability process with 3 steps which include the initial, reconsideration and hearing levels, it is important that you apply for Social Security disability benefits as soon as you suffer a disabling condition. This will ensure that you begin receiving disability payments as soon as possible.
SSD benefits are intended to help individuals who have worked five out of the last ten years who have become disabled, as defined by Social Security, and can no longer work or who are expected to be out of work for at least 12 consecutive months. You are disabled if you have an “inability to engage in any substantial gainful activity by reason of any medically determinable physical or mental impairment which can be expected to result in death or has lasted or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than 12 months.”
Let us help you navigate these waters without you ever going to the Social Security Administration’s office.
